Rodebjer was founded in New York in 1999 by native Swede Carin Rodebjer.
Carin Rodebjer was born in 1970 and grew up on the Swedish island of Gotland. In 1993, she started working within the fashion industry, and after a few years she moved from Stockholm to New York to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology. After being spotted wearing her handmade designs on the streets of Manhattan, Rodebjer started selling her fashion to friends and stores in New York and Stockholm. Since then Rodebjer has grown step by step, with one foot in the intense presence of the city and the other in the tranquillity of her childhood island.
Rodebjer is strongly inspired by counterculture, the human rights and feminist movements, music, film, art and literature—passionate people with strong ideals and the courage to live by their own rules.
Signature silhouettes include slouchy suits, draped caftans and easy-to-wear dresses and kimonos-clothes that easily moves from day into night and from work to leisure.
The presentation of the FW16 collection on Hudson St., dressing the lovely ladies like Say Lou Lou, Solange Knowles, Christene Barberich (Editor-in-chief Refinery29) and many more was a great way to show women in real life with successful stories.
The collections can also be found in the best department and key stores throughout Sweden and with selected retailers in over 20 countries
Carin Rodebjer has won several awards within the fashion industry in Sweden and Rodebjer has for several years been one of Sweden’s most appreciated fashion brands.
Pre Fall 17 collection is full of Jane Goodall flavour. Free spirit meets echo chic. Safari prints, silk kaftans, functionality combined with easy going silhouettes. At the same time, amongst earthy colour palette, we find the dramatic fuchsia accentuates the collection employing very dramatic designs. It represents the Goodall’s duality. Juxtapositions of different worlds. A woman with her unique versatility.
